The United States Congress has not allocated sufficient funding to properly maintain public housing units. To address this challenge, LACDA intends to utilize the Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD) program through HUD to redevelop Carmelitos. This approach is designed to ensure long-term access to quality, safe, and sanitary housing while maintaining affordability for LACDA residents.
As part of the RAD conversion at Carmelitos, the LACDA plans to redevelop the site to increase the number of housing units and expand available amenities based on community needs and resident input.
In certain circumstances, you may need to relocate temporarily to allow for repairs or construction activities. It is not yet known whether any specific households will need to move, and residents do not need to relocate at this time.
